For giving it to me

E Gdim F#m7 B7 E Bm7 E7
Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk
     A C#7 F#m F#m7 B7 B7b13
She says I began to sing long before I could talk
     E B
And I've often wondered, how did it all start?
     E E7 A Am
Who found out that nothing can capture a heart
       C#m
Like a melody can?

Well, who - ever it was, I'm a fan, so I say

CHORUS
E F#m B7 E
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
C#m C#m7 F#7 B7
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
E F#m G#m C#m7 A
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
                Am
What would life be?
          E E7 C#
Without a song or a dance what are we?
         F#m A
So I say thank you for the music
    B7 E Gdim F#m7 B7
For giving it to me

Am6 E Am6 E
I've been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair

I wanna sing it out to everybody
F#m7 B7
What a joy, what a life, what a chance!

CHORUS

E F#m B7 E
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing

Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
E F#m G#m C#m7 A
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
                Am
What would life be?
          E E7 C#
Without a song or a dance what are we?
         F#m A
So I say thank you for the music

YES, I was at the Royal Agricultural Society stadium in Sydney in 1977, and I saw them do this. (Well, I was so far back, it was pelting down rain and everyne else was standing up, so I more HEARD live rather than saw).

I just finished playing "Away in a Manger" for Christmas. I'd just tronsposed it to C from G and had a listen to Anne Murray's version. It just came out so well, I was thanking whatever it is above for the gift.

I thought I need an appropriate song to do so, and this immediately came to mind. Garry, your arrangement is professional. So Abba sing it in "E", eh? Let's transpose, and start playing.

Mate, I was in tears halfway through the first verse. I have played it about 5 times so far, and I can't get through without choking up. I better listen to it 100 times to get it out of the system.

I'll be out busking tomorrow night (I'm starting to really get well rewarded for what I'm doing now) with your song. I just hope I can hold it together for the 4 minutes or so it'll take...

I can't recall ever being moved so much. So thank you Garry, for the transcript. For giving it to me.
