Capo: 1st Fret

Intro: C G Am F x2

          C G
There are days when I wake up
                      Am F
I don't know what I'm doing here
         C G Am F
I barely recognize the pair of eyes staring back at me in the mirror

                C
But there was a day when I was free
      G
Not a care that I could see
                Am F
So good I could barely believe it was happening
           F
Oh take me back again

              C G
When I was sixteen with an open heart
        Am F
Windows down in a beat up car
           C G
When I was dumb and the world was young
            Am F
And she was beautiful
        C G
She was beautiful
        Am F
She was beautiful

          C G
How do we end up like this
                           Am F
Living lives that we don't care about
         C G Am
Too busy fixing things on computer screens while the grass grows green me
    F
I'm screaming out

            C
There was a day that I was free
      G
Not a care that I could see
                Am F
So good I could barely believe it was happening
           F
Oh take me back again

            C G
Oh I was sixteen with an open heart
        Am F
Windows down in a beat up car
           C G
When I was dumb and the world was young
            Am F
And she was beautiful
        C G
She was beautiful
        Am F
She was beautiful
        C G
She was beautiful
        Am F
She was beautiful yeah yeah yeah

Interlude: C G Am F

                C
But there was a day when I was free
      G
Not a care that I could see
                Am F
So good I could barely believe it was happening
           F
Oh take me back again

              C G
When I was sixteen with an open heart
        Am F
Windows down in a beat up car
           C G
When I was dumb and the world was young
                  Am F
And the world was young
        C G
She was beautiful
        Am F
She was beautiful
       C
It was you
       G
It was you
             Am F
And you were beautiful yeah

              C G
When I was sixteen with an open heart
        Am F
Windows down in a beat up car
           C G
When I was dumb and the world was young
            Am F
And she was beautiful

I use DddD for each first measure and then ddDdu for the second measure (each chord is played for two measures). So it ends up being DddDddDdu DddDddDdu etc. And then I kinda just improvise a bit with more upstrokes in the chorus. Pretty simple, but it seems to go well with the original recording.
