a PAPER SCRATCHINGS tab ( http://members.tripod.com/~blindmelon OR http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/7899 ) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Toes Across The Floor - Blind Melon from the album Soup as transcribed by Andrew Awilliamson49@hotmail.com If you ask me, Toes Across The Floor is the most outstanding Blind Melon song for bass guitar. At first it sounds intimidating, admittedly Brad Smith is an excellent and very imaginative bass player, but after a couple of playings it's not too bad and a lot of fun to play. Below are the main riffs and fills and below that is where they're played. It may not be note for note, but it's pretty close. Happy Playing! Don't steal it without asking me, okay?
The intro is as far as I've gotten with this but it's played with harmonics, like this........
g-----(3)------------------------------
d--------(3)-3-------------------------
a---5----------0--5----------------------
e---------------------------------------
Harmonics are in parenthesis or whatever (3)
Actually, the main riff is
g-----(7)------(5)---------------------
d--------(7)-3-------------------------
a---5--------------0--5----------------
e--------------------------------------
Harmonics are in()
MrDominoe nailed it...
g-----(7)------(5)---------------------
d--------(7)---------------------------
a---5--------8-----0--5----------------
e--------------------------------------
except he plays the F on the A string... watch the video his hand does not move to the 3rd at all in the main riff.
