The other chord version that's up here is some way off. For starters it's in B and not A
the capo in my version. Anyway, this may not be completely precise (I've decided use an
variation on the fifth (7th) fret instead of straight A) but it's simple enough and
nice on an acoustic. Play around with it and see what you think.

Drive by The Cars (tab by Simon Kent)

Capo 2nd fret:

Aadd9: 577600
Amaj9: 477600
F#m: 244222
Badd11: 799800
E: 022100

Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9 Amaj9
Who's gonna tell you when, it's too late.
Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9 Amaj9
Who's gonna tell you things aren't so great.

Chorus:
F#m Badd11 F#m Badd11
You can't go on, thinkin' nothing's wrong.
Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9
Who's gonna drive you home, tonight?

Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9 Amaj9
Who's gonna pick you up, when you fall?
Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9 Amaj9
Who's gonna hang it up, when you call?
Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9 Amaj9
Who's gonna pay attention, to your dreams?
Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9 Amaj9
And who's gonna plug their ears, when you scream?

Chorus:
F#m Badd11 F#m Badd11
You can't go on, thinkin' nothing's wrong.
Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9
Who's gonna drive you home, tonight?

Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9 Amaj9
Who's gonna hold you down, when you shake?
Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9 Amaj9
Who's gonna come around, when you break?

Chorus:
F#m Badd11 F#m Badd11
You can't go on, thinkin' nothing's wrong.
Aadd9 Amaj9 Aadd9
Who's gonna drive you home, tonight?
F#m Badd11 F#m Badd11
Oh, you know you can't go on, thinkin' nothing's wrong.

whats with the Aadd9 crap its just a staight A and on the courus is either a straigh B or a Bm depending on the tone of your voice, why make it harder and sound bad i just dont get it, it's an easy and very pleasent song to play dont, confuse things

You're absolutely right that it's in 'straight A' but I just thought that Aadd9 (577600) and Amaj9 (477600) give a richer sound when playing the song solo on an acoustic. Just my opinion. Thanks for your comment :)
