City On A Hill
Casting Crowns

Verse 1:

	Bm D
Did you hear of the city on the hill?
      A G
Said one old man to the other
		Bm D
It once shined bright and it would be shining still
		      A G
But they all started turning on each other

Verse 2:

	      Bm D
You see, the poets thought the dancers were shallow
	A G
And the soldiers thought the poets were weak
	Bm D
And the elders saw the young ones as foolish
	A G
And the rich man never heard the poor man speak

Chorus:

	   G
And one by one
	  D
They ran away
	   A
With their made up minds
	     G
To leave it all behind
	G D
And the light began to fade
		   A
In the city on the hill
The city on the hill

Verse 3:
Each one thought that they knew better
That they were different by design
Instead of standing strong together
They let their differences divide

Passage:

Bm D A G
And the world is searching still
Bm D A

Bridge:

		G
But it was the rhythm of the dancers
That gave the poets life
	    D
It was the spirit of the poets
		A
That gave the soldiers strength to fight
	   G
It was the fire of the young ones
	   Bm
It was the wisdom of the old
	   A
It was the story of the poor man
That needed to be told

Ending:

Bm D	A
                Come home
G
	And the Father's calling still
Bm	D	A
                Come home
G
To the city on the hill
Bm	D	A
                Come home

Hi there, nice tab ;)

5/5..

But, I noticed a small mistake on the lyrics:

Here:
"That they were different by design"

Thats wrong... It should be "BUT they where different by design",

Now that makes sense, doesnt it? :P

Listen to the song, and youll find out Im right.. It seems to be that there is a web who has this wrong version of the lyrics, and everyone is using that one =S

See ya ;)

The first guy is right mate, http://castingcrowns.com/node/657 is the official website of casting crowns and their correct lyric is "but eh were different but that design" if it were what you were saying it wouldn't make any sense.
