This is a very beautiful song, one the best delivered by Chris Daughtry. The other
versions here are in the wrong scale. The song is in the key of Gb. So the best
way to play this song is to tune your guitar a half step down (Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb).
Verse:
G Cadd9
I'm staring out into the night,
G Cadd9
Trying to hide the pain.
G Cadd9
I'm going to the place where love
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
And feeling good don't ever cost a thing.
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain.
Chorus:
G
Well I'm going home,
Cadd9 Dsus4
Back to the place where I belong,
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
And where your love has always been enough for me.
G Dsus4
I'm not running from.
Cadd9 Dsus4
No, I think you got me all wrong.
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
But these places and these faces are getting old,
G Cadd9
So I'm going home.
G Cadd9
Well I'm going home.
Verse:
G Cadd9
The miles are getting longer, it seems,
G Cadd9
The closer I get to you.
G Cadd9
I've not always been the best man or friend for you.
Em7
But your love, it makes true.
Dsus4 Cadd9
And I don't know why.
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
You always seem to give me another try.
Chorus:
G
Well I'm going home,
Cadd9 Dsus4
Back to the place where I belong,
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
And where your love has always been enough for me.
G Dsus4
I'm not running from.
Cadd9 Dsus4
No, I think you got me all wrong.
G
Well I'm going home,
Cadd9 Dsus4
Back to the place where I belong,
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
And where your love has always been enough for me.
G Dsus4
I'm not running from.
Cadd9 Dsus4
No, I think you got me all wrong.
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
But these places and these faces are getting old,
Bridge:
Dsus4 Cadd9
Be careful what you wish for,
Em7
'Cause you just might get it all.
Dsus4 Cadd9
You just might get it all,
Dsys4
And then some you don't want.
Cadd9
Be careful what you wish for,
Em7
'Cause you just might get it all.
Dsus4 Cadd9
You just might get it all, yeah.
Interlude:
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
Chorus:
G
Well I'm going home,
Cadd9 Dsus4
Back to the place where I belong,
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
And where your love has always been enough for me.
G Dsus4
I'm not running from.
Cadd9 Dsus4
No, I think you got me all wrong.
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
But these places and these faces are getting old,
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
I said these places and these faces are getting old,
Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9 Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9
So I'm going home.
G
I'm going home.

Perfect! Great job! It's a simple song but it didn't sound right when I tried the other versions. Then I tried this one and saw it was tuned a half step down. Now it sounds great, even the way I play.
Thank you so much for this. I didn't think to tune down a half step and playing in G was too high for me to sing some parts. This version sounds great!
