I think all the E chords in the pre-chorus and chorus are Em. They don't sound like E major to me, even though the E chords in the chorus DO sound like E major. I wonder if the E chord in the verse is an Esus4. That sounds kinda right to me, and would be consistent with this song being in Em/G.
Also, I think the last chord in the pre-chorus is a D, and that the second chord in the chorus is a D as well. Anyway, try the D chords and see what you think.
Lastly, I think the break is D and Em, not E and F#.
