I really liked this version. I didn't detune the high E and it still sounds good to me (actually I tried it detuned and didn't get it - maybe if you don't mute the B string right, it doesn't work).
For the "Cuz they're just spies..." part, I found playing the A, B and C#m as follows was much easier and sounded good/better to me:
A - x022200
B - x244400
C#m - x466500
basically, just sliding the previous regular open A up two frets and adding the bass note for B; then slide up 2 more (switching to the Am formed barre). Note: the other A's are better off in the E-barre (577600), but I was switching to the open A on the "you can't touch them no..." pass in the chorus to go into the A, B, C#m part as shown.
Not sure about the Bridge (I can't remember that part well enough), but the rest sounds spot on and blows away any other version of this song I've tried. I don't have the CD anymore, so I playing from memory and this passes the "close enough" test to me.
love this version, sure does pass the "close enough" test without de-tuning and all that garbage. one correction from listening closely to the cd:
The "A" you have on "us" is actually F#m, as seen below.
