I prefer not to play the 1st string as I think it sounds better without it.
During the Verse and the Chorus, he hammers on to the second fret of the C chord, 
during the lead bits, intro and outro he just plays the chord without the hammer 
on.

Hey man, why not make it easier for everyone and just say capo 1. No point in tuning down to put a capo on, just my opinion and easier for everyone else :)
