The Ice Is Getting Thinner
This is the way i play these two chords.
F#m7b5 C#dim[/ch]
E|-2- E|-3-
B|-1- B|-2-
G|-2- G|-0-
D|-2- D|-2-
A|-0- A|---
E|--- E|---
-------
-Intro-
-------
Am F#m7b5 F C
Am G F C
---------
-Verse 1-
---------
Am F#m7b5
Were not the same, dear
F C
As we used to be
Am G
The seasons have changed
F D
And so have we
Am F#m7b5
And there was little we could say
F C
And even less that we could do
Am G
To stop the ice from getting thinner
F C
Under me and you
---------
-Verse 2-
---------
Am F#m7b5
We buried our love
F C
In a wintery grave
Am G
A lump in the snow
F D
Was all that remained
Am F#m7b5
Though we stayed by its side
F C
As the days turned to weeks
Am G
And the ice kept getting thinner
F C
With ever word that we'd speak
--------
-Bridge-
--------
F C
And when the spring arrived
F C#dim
We were taken by surprise
Dm G
When the flows under our feet
C F
Bled into the sea
G
And nothing was left
For you and me
Am F#m7b5 F C
Am G F D
Am F#m7b5 F C
Am G F C
---------
-Verse 3-
---------
Am F#m7b5
Were not the same, dear
F C
And it seems to me
Am G
There's nowhere we can go
F D
With nothing underneath
Am F#m7b5
And it saddens me to say
F C
What we both knew was true
Am G
That the ice was getting thinner
F C
Under me and you
Am G
The ice was getting thinner
F C
Under me and you
Sounds great! One minor correction- I think that an Am/D sounds better than the F#m7b5 you describe. I play that chord the same as an Am just with the middle finger lifted off the D string. Try it out.
