I don't know what the deal with the other bass tab for this song is, but it has 
absolutely no bearing
on the actual recorded bassline.
The bass on this song is played by Ray Manzarek on a Fender Rhodes Piano Bass, not a bass guitar.
Play it with your fingers and listen to the recording to pick up on the exact timbre of the notes.
You can transpose the strings however you like, as the bassline is not originally written for the
bass guitar. This is just the way I prefer to play it and think sounds best. This 
is the whole song 
from beginning to end, at least 95% accurate, but the recording is 4-track and the bass was not 
recorded that well so some of the notes were not discernable, and are more the product of educated
guesses.
