*TUNING*
Double drop-D (DADGBD (low and high E both tuned down 1 whole step)) with a
capo on the 6th fret

*CHORD FORMS*

All chords are in relation to capo. I'm kind of fudging the names on some of
the chords for convenience's sake (namely the Dm13, Am11, and FM13; I didn't
know what else to call those ones without giving them ridiculously long
names), but it's close enough that you get the point. And of course, this
was done by ear and by watching live videos, and I didn't nitpick a WHOLE
lot, so there may be slight variations between this and the actual way it is
played. Just a disclaimer for you.

Some of these fingerings can be kind of tricky. Experiment with whatever is
comfortable for you and allows for quick chord changes.

Dm7(A)-000213
Dm13---000002
Dm7(B)-003210
Gm7----5x3333
DM7----004224
Cadd9--x32010
Bb-----x13333
Am11---x02010
FM13----33x210

~*~
The strumming pattern throughout is pretty basic. I think the slow intro
(and outro) is actually on mandolin, but you can easily play it on guitar if
you wanna play the song solo, maybe strumming softly with your thumb, then
switch to a pick when it gets fast.

As a brief note to avoid confusion, I put the chords to play *under* the
corresponding lyrics, *not* over.
~*~

*INTRO*

Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13 (x2)

Light up with me my dear,
Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13
Light up.
Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13

Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13

Un------der stormy night, tell no-----body.
Dm7(A) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13 Dm7(A) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13 Dm7(a)

~*~
Then things speed up for the verse and continue the same Dm chord pattern
~*~

**VERSE 1**

Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13 x2

My brother where do you intend to go tonight?
Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13
I heard that you missed your connecting flight,
  Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13
To the blue ridge mountains, over near Tennessee.
         Gm7

Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13

**VERSE 2**

You're ever welcome with me any time you like,
Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13
Let's drive to the country side, leave behind some green-eyed look-a-likes,
      Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13 Gm7
So no one gets worried, no.
                            Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13
So no one gets worried, no.
   Gm7 Dm7(a) Dm13 Dm7(B) Dm13

**INTERLUDE**

But Sean don't get callous,
    Gm7 DM7
I'm sure it'll be fine.
    Gm7 DM7
I love you, I love you,
  Cadd9 Bb
Oh brother of mine.
   Am11

~*~
Then a Bb chord is strummed for awhile while the piano and mandolin do their
thing
~*~

**REFRAIN**

In the quivering forest,
       Bb
Where the shivering dog rests,
          Cadd9
I will do it grandfather,
       Bb
Wilt to wood and end.
        FM13
And the river got frozen,
        Bb
And the hole got snowed in,
        Cadd9
And near the moon glow ride,
    Bb
Till the morning light.
         FM13

Terrible am I child?
Bb Cadd9
Even if you don't mind,
Bb Cadd9
In the quivering forest,
       Bb
Where the shivering dog rests,
          Cadd9
I will do it grandfather,
       Bb
Wilt to wood and end.
        FM13
And the river got frozen,
        Bb
And the hole got snowed in,
        Cadd9
And near the moon glow ride,
    Bb
Till the morning light.
         FM13

Terrible am I child?
Bb Cadd9
Even if you don't mind,
Bb Cadd9
No
Bb Cadd9

~*~
Then it plays the slow intro again
~*~

And that's it! Definitely not your typical folk song, but once you get over
the weird chords it's not too hard. Good luck! This took a lot of work, so
you best appreciate it! It's a beautiful song (as all of Fleet Foxes' songs
are) and is very fun to play once you get it down.

This was awesome! I've been waiting for someone to tab this correctly since the performance of this on Letterman - I tried but just couldn't figure out the right tuning. Right on man. My only issue is with the interpretation of the lyrics, but such is life.

Thanks, man! It's refreshing to see somebody not half-ass the tabs. Good job!
