Never understood why people drop it to half step when there's nothing here that requires open strings. Just play the chorus part barred on the sixth fret instead of the A on the second (then down to first, then up to fourth and repeat). The rest of it like the lead translates fine.

If you look closely, there are a few times where the low C# is played open. Yes, it's a quick song, so you wouldn't necessarily hear it, but it's there.
