"Songs About Rain" by Gary Allan

The strum that I found was easiest was down down-up-down-up within three beats

             G G/F# Em C G G/F# Em C
Well this town has closed down way too early and there's nothing to do,
          G G/F# Em C G G/F# Em C
So I'm driving around in circles and I'm thinkin' 'bout you,
D Em D Em
Today I heard you got a new last name, Sure didn't know it was gonna hit me this way,
        G G/F# Em C G
And the radio just keeps on playin' all these songs about rain

            G G/F# Em C G G/F# Em C
Now there's all kinds of songs about babies and love that goes right,
        G G/F# Em C G G/F# Em C
But for some unkown reason nobody wants to play them tonight,
D Em D Em
Hey I hope it's sunny wherever you are, But that's sure not the picture tonight in my car,
          G G/F# Em C
And it sure ain't easing my pain all these songs like

Chorus:
G Bm
Rainy Night In Georgia and Kentucky Rain,
C G
Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again,
G Bm
Blue Eyes Cryin' In The Early Mornin' Rain,
     C Am
They go on and on and there's no two the same,
C D G
Oh it would be easy to blame all these songs about rain

       G G/F# Em C G G/F# Em C
Well I thought I was over you but I guess maybe I'm not,
           G G/F# Em C G G/F# Em C
Cause when I let you go looks like lonely is all that I've got,
D Em D Em
Guess I'll never know what could have been, Sure ain't helpin' this mood that I'm in,
   G G/F# Em C
If they're gonna keep on playin' me songs like,

Chorus:
G Bm
Rainy Night In Georgia and Kentucky Rain,
C G
Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again,
G Bm
Blue Eyes Cryin' In The Early Mornin' Rain,
     C Am
They go on and on and there's no two the same,
C D G
Oh how I wish I could blame all the songs about rain

Background chorus
G Bm C G G Bm C Am C D G
All these songs about rain All these songs about rain
(fade) G Bm C G G Bm C Am

nice work it helped. I do have a couple of ideas that i think are closer to the original: 1. The C right before the chorus i believe is actually D, it is a variant from the repeated progression and only does this as it leads into the chorus coming out of both verses. 2. the change up in the middle of the verse where you go to D ("today i heard you got a last name" and other variations on the same chord pattern") is actually D then D#dimb6 Em C repeated twice. not sure about my syntax on the D#dim mess there but i mean 1st fret D string, 2nd fret G string, open B string, 2nd fret E string. 3. the Am are more accurately Am7sus2 I think. Just put your finger on the 2nd fret of the D string and play from A on down with the rest of the strings open. Thanks and I hope someone finds this useful
