Capo 1 (Depends on your voice)

      Em
Hey dad
                    D
I’m writing to you
Em D
Not to tell you
        C
That I still hate you
Em D
Just to ask you
                 C
How you feel
"
And how we fell apart
"
How this fell apart

               Em D
Are you happy out there
             C
In this great wide world
             Em D
Do you think about your sons
              C
Do you miss your little girl
                  Em D
When you lay your head down
         C Em
How do you sleep at night
              D C
Do you even wonder if we’re alright

But we’re alright

We’re alright

G
It’s been a long hard road without you by my side
C
Why weren’t you there the nights that we cried
G
You broke my mother’s heart

You broke your children for life
C
It’s not ok but we’re alright
G
I remember the days you were a hero in my eyes
C
But those are just a long lost memory of mine
             G
I spent so many years

Learning how to survive
               C
Now I’m writing just to let you know

I’m still alive

        Em D
The days I spent
     C
So cold, so hungry
          Em D
Were full of hate
   C
I was so angry
        Em D
The scars run deep inside
         C
This tattooed body
Em
There’s things I’ll take
C
To my grave
              Em
But I’m okay
       D
I’m okay

G
It’s been a long hard road without you by my side

Why weren’t you there the nights that we cried
G
You broke my mother’s heart

You broke your children for life
C
It’s not ok but we’re alright

C
But those are just a long lost memory of mine
C
Now I’m writing just to let you know

I’m still alive
                       D
And I’m still alive

A * G **
Sometimes I forget
A
Yeah, and this time
G ** A
I’ll admit that I miss you
           C
Said I miss you

G
It’s been a long hard road without you by my side

Why weren’t you there the nights that we cried

You broke my mother’s heart
