i think the funky-thingy is a bit different:
the first bit is played really short, and not as loud as the to second one. the note in () is up to you, if you want to play it. sometimes it sound best - other times not.

after the first kind of break - where he sings, he plays a bit different sometimes: just listen. :)

also, in the parts where he sings, you should use open chords, like the other has written (http://ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/g/gorillaz/fire_coming_out_of_a_monkeys_head_tab.htm).
