I have looked for this song for 10 years. Not available on sheet music or on CD. It's
of the best songs I've ever heard from a movie. So I spent 5 hours trying to hear the
changes from an MP3 file ripped from the DVD. I play guitar so anyone wanting to play it
piano as it was written, will probably have to try different chord voicing and inversions
get it to sound right. Please let me know if there are any errors. Maybe someone has a
ear than I do. Or maybe just know more about music theory and proper chord changes. Enjoy it.

labjr, First I would like to say thank you. Like you I first heard this song from the movie "Cadence." I too looked all over to find a recording and/or some sheet music with no luck. I also did manage to find the DVD rip. But untill now I still didn't know how to play it.

I played it the way you have it chorded and I would like to say it sounds good to me. Though your chords sound great, if I may, I would like to humbly point out one minor error with the lyrics.

In the forth line in the first verse you wrote, "I really don't want to be so in myself." I believe the word there is "discern." It should read, "I really don't want to discern myself."

Spiritualy speaking, discern is an interesting word. It is to study or to look closely or even to judge the spirit of a thing or a person. To decide if it is good or evil. In a way, it is like seeing something or someone through God's eyes. I believe what Harry Stewart was saying there is that he doesn't want to see himself as God would see him because of all the wrong he has done in his life. Listen to it again, I think you will hear it.

Again, let me say thank you. This is awesome, going to go work on this now :)

Couple corrections, the line spoken about above is actually "I really don't want to disown myself" (as in he doesn't want to have to give up who he is because of what he had done in the past)
And the Chorus should go like this.

[Tab]
C Dm G C (W/d to Am)
Oh when I come To the end of my journey
Am Bb G C
Weary of life, the battle is won
C Dm G C (W/d to Am)
Carry my staff, the cross of redemption
Am Dm G C
We’ll understand it, better by and by
