Hey fellas. This is the tab to Jack Johnson's Angel, written based off
of the MV, not the album version or any live performances.
I'll start off with the chords and the lyrics.

The pattern is pretty basic,
strum down
muted note
strum down

strum down
The muted chords(x's), can be played by lifting all your fingers slightly off
the strings, yet still applying minor pressure. Then, using your forefinger
and middle finger's nails, strum downwards,resulting in a "clicking" sound.
The non-barred chords(G, Em, and A), have different ways of muting them.
One way would be to change the position of one of your fingers to lay
across the entire six strings, which would mute the chord.
This can be done in a G by just laying your middle finger flat down
from it's position and slightly releasing your other finger on the high e string.
In an Em, you would have to move the middle finger up from it's position to
lay across the strings, and then return to it's original position.
In an A, just slightly release your middle finger, ring finger, and pinkie
from their positions and lay your index across the first fret to mute.
Alternatively, with your right hand, you can place the bottom part of your hand
across the strings while you strum with your nails, also creating the muted sound.
Experiment to your own liking.

ok theres a couple things wrong with this...first, your D/E# is actually a D/C#, and there is no such thing as an E#. If you know your notes then F comes after E. The song is also played half a step up from what you have here. another thing, jack rarely uses open chords, so the Em, A and G would be played like this

And lastly, the mutes you here arent actually mutes, that sound is the pick hitting the strings.

As to your comment about the half step up, open chords, and the listed correction: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxxBopd2rE0
Even without the video, you can hear that the chords go progressively lower, so a x79987 won't fit it. Also, your A (577655), won't be able to slide into the starting D, which makes it quite useless. Rarely isn't never.
Plus, I don't know if you've ever noticed, but Mr.Johnson doesn't use a pick for this song.
