FLY OVER STATES

(Revision of my first submitted tab. After listening to the song a few more times
I realized I left some parts out. Ken "Landmine" L.)

Standard Tuning
No capo

Begginning Part:

e|---7------|
b|-----8----|
g|-------7--|
d|----------| X 5
a|----------|
E|----------|

VERSE:

G G Dsus2

         G
A couple guys in first class on a flight
                         Bm
From new York to Los Angeles,

Kinda making small talk killing time,
                                   C
Flirting with the flight attendants,
                    Am
30, 000 feet above, could be Oklahoma,
       G
Just a bunch of square cornfields and wheat farms,
                     Bm
Man it all looks the same,

Miles and miles of back roads and highways,
                                     C
Connecting little towns with funny names,
                              Am D
Who'd want to live down there in the middle of nowhere,

CHORUS:

              Em C
They've never drove through Indiana,
                G
Met the men who plowed that earth,
                   D Bm
Planted that seed, busted his ass for you and me,

            Em C
Or caught a harvest moon in Kansas,
                  D C
They'd understand why god made those fly over states

VERSE:

G Bm
I bet that mile long Santa Fe freight train engineer's seen it all
                                                           C
Just like that flatbed cowboy stacking US steel on a 3-day haul

Road and rails under their feet
Am D
Yeah that sounds like a first class seat

CHORUS:
       Em C
On the plains of Oklahoma
              G
Where the windshield sunset in your eyes
       D Bm
Like a watercolor painted sky

            Em C
You'd think heavens doors have opened
                  D
You'll understand why god made
          C
Those fly over states

[solo]

       Em C
Take a ride across the badlands
G
Feel that freedom on your face
D Bm
Breathe in all that open space

       Em C
Meet a girl from Amarillo
                  G
You'll understand why god made
                  C
Why you'd want to plant your stakes
             D
In those fly over states

For the intro... Play the G chord and slide it up to the A (in the same fingering as the G) and then back to the G then up to the B (same fingering as the G chord) and you will create those notes that I think you are looking for. Kinda of confusing I know but, give it a shot.

Good tab

I think the Bm chords in the chorus should be B7, and the last D chord in the song should be G, but other than that I give it 5 stars...Good Job.

I think the three notes at the beginning are actually natural harmonics on the twelfth fret strings B G and D:

e------------
B--12--------
G-----12-----
D--------12--
A------------
E------------

At least I think that sounds prettier. Otherwise its great with the changes in the other two comments.
