Jason Aldean - Fly Over States

Gadd9 = 3x0233

G   Gadd9  ||x4

Verse 1
 A couple guys in first class on a flight from new York to Los Angeles
 Kinda making small talk killin time, flirtin with the flight attendants,
C                          Am
 Thirty thousand feet above, could be Oklahoma,
Just a bunch of square cornfields and wheat farms, man it all looks the same
 Miles and miles of back roads and highways,
Connecting little towns with funny names,
                             Am                    D
Who'd want to live down there in the middle of nowhere,

               Em                C
They've never drove through Indiana,
Met the men who plowed that earth,
                    D                  B7
Planted that seed, busted his ass for you and me,
             Em                C
Or caught a harvest moon in Kansas,
                    D                    C
They'd understand why God made those fly over states

Verse 2
G                                                               Bm
 I bet that mile long Santa Fe freight train engineer's seen it all
Just like that flatbed cowboy stacking U.S. steel on a three day haul

Road and rails under their feet
Am                        D
 Yeah that sounds like a first class seat

         Em           C
On the plains of Oklahoma
With a windshield sunset in your eyes
        D                B7
Like a watercolor painted sky
           Em                  C
You'd think heavens doors have opened
                    D                    C
You'll understand why God made those fly over states

Solo  Em       |C        |G      |D  B7  ||

        Em               C       G
Take a ride across the badlands feel that freedom on your face
   D                B7
Breathe in all that open space
        Em           C                       D
Meet a girl from Amarillo you'll understand why God made
                  C                               G
Might even want to plant your stakes in those fly over states

Int Em             |C           |G             |D        ||

               Em               C     G     D  B7
Have you ever been through Indiana,
         Em           C     G     D
On the plains of Oklahoma
        Em     C     G     D
Take a ride

What you are hearing is harmonics at the 12th fret on the B G and D strings You are hearing the correct pitches, B G D, but they are played as harmonics at the 12th fret. Listen to the timbre of the notes. not just the pitches, and how they ring out more like a harp than fretted notes. Try it and you'll hear the same thing.
