I am adding a little tab bit for the intro. This includes the basic rhythm
of the chord progression and a simplified extract of the lead intro. If you
play it like it's tabbed you'll look rather impressive, but it's really easy
to play. enjoy! Note that all the chords are to be played as bar chords, or
even power chords (but that doesn't sound as good).

INTRO:

rhythm part:
e|-6-6-8--8--8-----6-6-4-4-4----|
B|-6-6-8--8--8-----6-6-4-4-4----|
G|-7-7-8--8--10----7-7-5-5-5----|
D|-8-8-10-10-10----8-8-6-6-6----| X4 (if you only play the rhythm part)
A|-8-8-10-10-10----8-8-6-6-6----| or X2 (if you want to play the lead part
E|-6-6-8--8--8-----6-6-4-4-4----| as well)
             *             *
lead part:

"There must be some kind of way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
Cm A# G# A# Cm A# G# A#
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Cm A# G# A# Cm A# G# A#
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
Cm A# G# A# Cm A# G# A#
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

[repeat intro (only rhythm section]

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

[repeat intro (only rhythm section]
[continue with the same chords as the first verse]

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl

don't know why it was rated only 3 stars, chords are right, as jimi plays half step down

Hi, I think the problem many people are having with my tab is that on all the other hendrix tabs the guitar is tuned half a step down. Al I did, was keep it in standard tuning and lowered the chords half a step (by one fret). Thus it sounds the same as tuning the guitar half a step down and playing the chords in the "original" position. Hendrix only tune half a step down in order to maximize his bends and reduce the amount of times he has to re-tune the guitar during live shows(it always went out due to his wammy).

Great chords! I tried some power chords instead, and it sounded pretty good too. Thanks for the basis though :D
