I could not believe nobody had requested or tabbed this song! This is a very powerful
simple song and Kate Rusby is underrated. Enjoy!
C F C G
Lay me down gently, lay me down low,
C F G
I fear I am broken and won't mend, I know.
F G C F
One thing I ask when the stars light the skies,
Am G C C/B
Who now will sing me lullabies,
Am G C
Oh who now will sing me lullabies.
C F C G
In this big world I'm lonely, for I am but small,
C F G
Oh angels in heaven, don't you care for me at all?
F G C F
You heard my heart breaking for it rang through the skies,
Am G C C/B
So why don't you sing me lullabies,
Am G C
Oh why don't you sing me lullabies.
C F C G
I lay here; I'm weeping for the stars they have come,
C F G
I lay here not sleeping; now the long night has begun.
F G C F
The man in the moon, oh he can't help but cry,
Am G C C/B
For there's no one to sing me lullabies,
Am G C
Oh there's no one to sing me lullabies.
(Chords next on the breakdown aren't actually played on guitar, but I play broken chords)
C F C G
Lay me down gently, lay me down low,
C F G
I fear I am broken and won't mend, I know.
F G C F
One thing I ask when the stars light the skies,
Am G C C/B
Who now will sing me lullabies,
Am G C
Oh who now will sing me lullabies.
C F
Who will sing me to sleep
C F
Who will sing me to sleep
C F
Who will sing me to sleep
C F
Who will sing me to sleep
Very nice, the outro should be C F C G but other than that it sounds good to me.
It fits the studio version.
If you want to follow the Youtube live version, it is one full step lower. You can tune down your guitar or start in B.
An easier way is playing the following chords with a capo at 2d fret :
A D A E
A D E
D E A D
F#m E A A/G#
F#m E A
Oops, I should have said a HALF step ...
The chords I gave are ok with the studio version with capo at the 3rd fret.
