                             Closer - Kings Of Leon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Tom Hopper (thellamaking)
Email: tom-hopper@hotmail.co.uk

Tuning: Standard (EADGBe)

First song off of KoL's new album Only By The Night!

Main (With Whammy and Delay)
           *                 *                *
e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------12----------------15---------------14-----------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-9---------------12---------------11---------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

The notes with the * on top are what you'd play if you don't have a whammy, otherwise
play the same note before that but use the octave up function on the Whammy.

Distorted lick #1 (mostly in the background)
e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|--10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-5-5-5-3-3-3-3-5-5-5-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
this lick is used in some of the 'Chorus' parts ("And it's calling me closer") Uses a
of reverb/delay to make it sound more ambient.

Distorted Lick #1
e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-------12---------12---------15----------15----------14----------14--------|
G|----11----11---11---11----14----14----14----14----14----14----14----14-----|
D|--9----------9----------12----------12----------11----------11-------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Again used on some of the "And it's Calling me Closer" sections. Again with a fair use
reverb.

When the song picks up a bit there's a distorted section of just the main chords of B, D
A with the 'Main' lick playing under it.

Cheers!

Tom

for clarification i think the effects order is Delay --> whammy

I'm pretty sure the whammy is a whammy pedal and not the bar. Unless that is what you and ttremper meant. If so they hopefully that clarifies that for other people who are confused.

ttremper. I believe that it Whammy ---> Delay.
Otherwise the whammy would be shifting the echos too and they aren't getting shifted.

Just my view though,
rock on
