Intro:

G Am7 G Am7

G Am7
Walkin' to school, my brother and me
G Am7
Sharin' a smile, movin' those feet
G Am7
Carryin' the world, in the bag on my back
G Am7
Pick up the pace, can't wait to get to class

G Am7

G Am7
Turn 'round the corner, and there she is
G Am7
Light brown hair, smilin' my direction
G Am7
We walk on in, sit down (right) where we are
G Am7
We open our bags, and pull out our jars

Em
On top of the sound of the wheels of the
C
cars rollin' on the carpet,
G D
We have small little teeny wee itty bitty conversations,

And she says,
Em C
"Who will you be? Where will you go?
G D
What will you see? (And) How will you know?"
      Em C
And I smile, and I sigh,
        G
with an answer so simple she feels it
                 D
deep down in her heart,
C G Am7
"Toy cars and pickle jars."

G Am7

G Am7
Sit down in the diner, and there she is
G Am7
Same light brown hair, smilin' my direction
G Am7
Comes to my table, I feel the jump of my heart
G Am7
She opens her bag, and pulls out the jar

Em
On top of the sound of the wheels of the
                    C
cars rollin' on the table,
G D
We have small little teeny wee itty bitty conversations,

And she says,
Em C
"Who are you now? Where have you gone?
G D
What have you seen? (And) How have you known?"
      Em C
And I smile, and I sigh,
        G
with an answer so simple she feels it in her soul
                                D
and deep, deep, deep down in her heart,
C G D Em C
"Toy cars and pickle jars."
