Philosophy of the World
Written by The Shaggs
Transcribed, and rewritten by Nick Rineholt

The Philosophy of life is an amazing song, it was quite horrible the first time I heard
but after about the 3rd time, I started to like it. It’s a rather silly song, but has
of the best lyrics “You’re never gonna please, anybody, in this world”. I could only
one Shaggs guitar tab on the whole entire internet, so I took it upon myself to tab this
By no means is it a perfect tab, it is nearly impossible to tab exactly what they are
since most of the time they’re not playing real chords… and their instruments aren’t
tuned, so what I have here is what I think sounds nice. The riffs are just a small base
the mess that is actually being played, so if you want the authentic sound, feel
to strum more than just one string when playing them. The instruments and equipment
used cannot be found anywhere outside a vintage store, so distortion (or at least the right
of gain) is needed. There’s a completely different riff starting with “oh the girls with
hair…” I’ll tab it sometime… but you can just squeeze the 1st two riffs in there
then.

Oh, the rich people want what the poor people's got Riff 1

And the poor people want what the rich people's got Riff 2

And the skinny people want what the fat people's got Riff 1

And the fat people want what the skinny people's got Riff 2

You can never please anybody in this world Riff 3

The short people want what the tall people's got
And the tall people want what the short people's got
The little kids want what the big kid's got
And the big kids want what the little kid's got

You can never please anybody in this world

Oh, the girls with short hair want long hair
And the girls with long hair want short hair
Oh, the boys with cars want motorcycles
And the boys with motorcycles want cars

You can never please anybody in this world

It doesn't matter what you do
It doesn't matter what you say
There will always be
One who wants things the opposite way

It doesn't matter where you go
It doesn't matter who you see
There will always be
Someone who disagrees

We do our best
We try to please
But we're like the rest
Whenever at ease

Oh, the rich people want what the poor people's got
And the poor people want what the rich people's got
And the skinny people want what the fat people's got
And the fat people want what the skinny people's got

You can never please anybody in this world
