INTRO
A C#m Bsus4 A
A E D E
A C#m Bsus4 A
A E D E
VERSE
A E D A
I broke free on a Saturday morning, I put the pedal to the floor
A E D A
Headed north on Mills Avenue and listened to the engine roar
A C#m Bsus4 A
A E D E
My broken house behind me and good things ahead
a girl named Cathy wants a little of my time
Six cylinders underneath the hood crashing and kicking Aha listen to the engine whine
CHORUS
A E D A
I am going to make it through this year if it kills me
A E D A
I am going to make it though this year if it kills me
A C#m Bsus4 A
A E D E
VERSE
I played video games in a drunken haze
I was seventeen years young
Hurt my knuckles punching the machines
the taste of scotch rich on my tongue
A C#m Bsus4 A
A E D E
And then Cathy showed up and we hung out
trading swigs from a bottle all bitter and clean
locking eyes holding hands
twin high maintenance machines
CHORUS
BRIDGE
F#m A
I drove home in the California dusk,
F#m A
I could feel the alcohol inside of me hum
F#m A
Pictured the look on my stepfather's face
D E
ready for the bad things to come.
VERSE
I down shifted as I pulled into the driveway
the motor screaming out stuck in second gear
The scene ends badly as you might imagine
in a cavalcade of anger and fear
There will be feasting and dancing in Jerusalem next year
CHORUS
A C#m Bsus4 A
A E D E
Almost perfect except after the verses, it doesn't go A - E - D - E, it goes A - E - D - A.
I agree with Exo, he definitely goes back to an A at the end of the A, E, D sequence.
I'm not sold on the Bsus4 - and you've tabbed out Bsus2/A or Asus4 - a D used in the other two tabs seems most accurate.
Lastly, the line, "there will be feasting and dancing in Jerusalem next year" has the chord sequence A, C#m, D, E (7th fret, A string).
They're just small corrections, everything else seems spot on. Nicely written out as well, made it very easy to follow.
@Exo
A-E-D-A for the intro and after the verses.
My mistake. I wrote it correctly on the top but not when I wrote it along with the lyrics.
@Andrewbiles
You're right, the chord is called Asus4 and not Bsus4. My mistake. The D chord SOUNDS okay, but I was going along with what he plays live which I THINK is Asus4, might be wrong. Refer to these videos.
