Great song from a great band:
Capo 2
G C
G C
G C D G
G C
She sits him down in a stiff chair
G C
Rubs his back and strokes his hair
G C
Telling him it's okay to cry
D G
But he just sits and stares
(G C stroke each once between verses.)
The merciless moon outside
Has nothing now he's come to realise
Only the desolation he feels
The cold distance inside
G
But you and I now
C
We can be alright
D
Just hold on to what we know is true
G
You and I now
C
Though it's cold inside
D
Feel the tide turning
(...and so on and so forth)
While the priest just sits and weeps
Lamenting the fact that he can see
Darkness and light in so much detail
He has given himself over
Refusing what he knows to be real
He turns away from every meal
Starving himself of goodness
He doesn't think he can heal
But you and I now
We can be alright
Just hold on to what we know is true
You and I now
Though it's cold inside
Feel the tide turning
"What if I lost all I had?"
Said the stranger to his dad
And the witness was confused
He can't tell what is bad
Instead he runs up to the nearest girl
And he comments on her glorious curls
Says, "Darling come with me
I'll show you a whole new world"
But you and I now
We can be alright
Just hold on to what we know is true
You and I now
Though it's cold inside
Feel the tide turning
Hey, good tab, except I think the chorus is actually a little different.
Em C
But you and I now
G
We can be alright
D
Just hold on to what we know is true
Em C
You and I now
G
Though it's cold inside
D
Feel the tide turning
This is the way I believe it is played. Great tab otherwise though.
Sorry, the commenting box stuffed it up.
The C chord should be played above the word, Now.
The G chord should be played above the word, Alright.
And the D is fine.
patman90 is right. Sorry, when I was doing the chords, I only had my banjo, and even then I knew the chorus sounded off. I've been meaning to fix it, but I can't figure out how to edit it.
