Song title: Blood Is Blood
Original Album: Dear Frustrated Superstar

Words and Music by Nerina Pallot
Copyright © 2001 Polydor Records
Published by Chrysalis Music Publishing Ltd/Mute Song Ltd.

Transcribed by Gavin Chart (contactus@gartfrets.net) (http://www.gartfrets.net)

NOTES:
I've transcribed the beautiful piano INTRO, that you might want to try if
you have a second guitar to play the chords.

On the record there is a backing vocal line that runs through the last chorus.
I've added it here only for the sake of completeness.
This is a cool song with some great changes. Hope you enjoy!

INTRO:
Chords:
C#m x46654 A x02220
G#m 455444 B x24442
E 022100

[play: Guitar Figure 1] [x2]

VERSE:
Chords:
C#m x46654 A x02220
G#m 455444 B x24442
E 022100

C#m G#m E B A B
Tinker-bell, my winged friend, I think we got it wrong.
   C#m G#m E B A B
No fairy tale or happy end, just prehistoric songs.
  C#m G#m E B A B
A crystal in my baby's eyes, I want what I can't love
   C#m G#m E B A B
So now I've learnt how to despise, I think I've learnt enough...

CHORUS:
Chords:
E 022100 B x24442
A x02220 B7 x2120x
F#m 244222

            E A
If blood is blood, then blood will flow
              F#m B
That's all it does, that's all it knows
             E A B
But I've one question, I want something, I want more.

         E A
Flesh is flesh, an urgent fire
             F#m B
It drags you down, this cheap desire.
            E A B
We all want something, maybe beauty, maybe more...

VERSE:
Absolution, constitution, leave it all behind
Take off your shirt, your worried face, and let me lose your mind.
I thought that I might change the world, but all I changed was me.
So now I sleep most days and think of where it all might lead.

[repeat CHORUS]

BRIDGE:
Chords:
C#m x46654 B 799877
G#m 466444 C/G 335553
A 577655 D x57775

C#m G#m A
Blood will rain a little,
A C#m A
Down each mountainside -
C/G D A
Every cloud will bring you here.

[Instrumental / Guitar SOLO over VERSE chords]

CHORUS:
Notes:
If you're busking this, you might want to play B7 (7978 10 7) on the last line
of the CHORUS, the last time around (e.g. on the "all" of "we all want
something..."). Just a little yearning touch to finish...

            E A
Oh blood is blood, and blood will flow
              F#m B
That's all it does, that's all it knows
             E A B
But I've one question, I want something, I want more.

            E A
So flesh is flesh, an urgent fire
(So flesh is flesh, and it twists the soul)
             F#m B
It drags you down, this cheap desire
(Like a tourniquet, like a begging bowl)
            E A B
We all want something, maybe beauty, maybe more
(Like some long forbidden treasure in the dirt...)

Oh blood is blood, and blood will flow -
(Blood is Blood, and it's on our hands)

That's all it does, that's all it knows
(That's the price of grace for the common man)

But I've one question, I want something, I want more
(For that one good hour you pay with all your life)

       C#m
I want more

[play: Guitar Figure 1]

       C#m
I want more

The first and second time the G#M is written out in numbers is different to it in the last one, I think the last one's right though >.<
