Ok, this is a real fun one to play, interesting strumming pattern
The Chords are E, A, B, A.  Use the open E and A and the B on the
second fret for the intro and for the chorus, it gives it a more
full feel, and you also want to let it ring when you are playing it.
For the verse use the higher voicings of the chords that look like
this:

   E  A  B
E--7--5--7-----|
B--9--5--7-----|
G--9--6--8-----|
D--9--7--9-----|
A--7--7--9-----|
E--x--5--7-----|

For these chords you wanna use the same strum pattern that you did
in the intro for the E and the B, but for the A just hit it once and
mute it.  Listening to the song really helps.

this is good man, does anyone know how to play the intro from the live from madison square garden version? i love that intro and wanna be able to play it.

I think for that Intro in Madison Square, it's just a standard form E, but you take your middle finger off the A string on every change.
