INTRO:

E	F#m	E	F#m	G#m	F#m	G#m	A

E
I came home from school on Tuesday
F#m
To find my mother gone
E
Why she left I’ll never know
F#m
It seemed like they got along
G#m F#m
But one of these days I’d like to know
G#m A
Just where it all went wrong
E
A woman torn to tears asks
F#m
Who the real criminals are
		E
Or when they told ‘er her husband died
			F#m
Fighting in another country’s drug wars
		E
She said it isn’t the kids on the streets without a dream
F#m
Shooting up the dealer’s smack
		E
It’s them a red-tape politicians
		  F#m
Digging on the drug lords kick-backs
G#m F#m
Isn’t it funny what power and money
G#m A
Can do to the soul of a man?
				   E
And give me something to believe in
		F#m
If there’s a lord above
				E
I give me something to believe in
F#m
If there’s a lord above
E
He got a second job at night now
F#m
Just to help pay the bills
E
And there he worked for the rest of his life
	 F#m
Cuz his wife had taken him in
	 E
Now he lives on a bottle of courage

F#m
He buys at the liquor store
E
He did his family real good
	 F#m
Till he couldn’t do it anymore
G#m F#m
Whatever he found, why he broke down
G#m A
No one’s really sure
					E
Just needed something to believe in
		F#m
If there’s a lord above
				   E
He needed something to believe in
	F#m
Oh lord arise
		  G#m F#m
The tracks of society’s racial on the old man’s face
G#m A
His eyes blood red lay to waste

	    E
Well the mirror tells a different story
	   F#m
Than the one that’s playin’ in my mind
	E
Every time I swear I’m lookin’ younger
	   F#m
The more lines that I find
	    E
I guess I learned to trade youth for wisdom
   F#m
And lust in for romance
E
It’s all written in the stages and phases
  F#m
Of life’s little dance
	    G#m F#m
And when I wanna bitch about growin’ old
G#m A
I think of how many never had a chance
					E
It gives me something to believe in
	F#m E	F#m	E	F#m
Oh lord arise (x4)
G#m F#m
Sometimes I wish I didn’t know now
G#m A E	F#m	G#m	A
Things I didn’t know then
					E
And give me something to believe in

Nope ... words are not original and A LOT of the chords are in the wrong place. I'll post a better version soon.

o_O ... what? Those are some interesting lyrics but um, they do not belong to Something To Believe In by Poison. You should perhaps take them to def jam records though. You may have a good rap song there.

Hey for the version I was looking for this is right.. It's the acoustic ballad version of this song. The words ARE different in this version which makes it good, guaranteed this is by poison.. search it up best of ballad something to believe in on youtube, its good stuff. Good job to the poster, thanks!
