it works to start with, but in my opinion, the whole joy of the song is the warmth of the chords that his purple badness uses. but it works.

I totally agree with mattman. If you want it to sound a lot fuller and closer to the song, simply make a few changes in the chords you are already using:
Instead of the A chord use this xO2420 or even this 577600 will give similar results of adding that sweet "9" he's adding to it. If you want to make the Dadd9 chord with an open string, simply play this: XXX0252 or X57975 and you can do the same chord shape with the E chord with the root on the A string or play this: O24100 Great job on getting the frame of the song down,, it just needs a little tweeking.
