Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge
tabbed by: Peter the Great
ok, here goes.
this is my tab for it at standard tuning, no capo and one guitarist.
i played this for my final music exams.
sounds damn good
still, just a basic tab of it
* = put ABOVE the chord which should be upstroked
h = hammer on
p = pull off (hands on the guitar now!!!)
/ = slide up
intro:
---------------------------------------------------------
--3-----------3--------------2---------------------------
--------2--------2-----------------------3---------------
-----4-----4--------4-2-0----------4--------4--4-2--0----
--5-----------------------4-----4-----4---------------2--
-----------------------------2---------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------3h5p3--------------2--------------------------
------3---3-------------2-----------------------3--------------
-3/4----4-------------------4/6--6--------4--------4--4-2-0----
-4/5----------5-------------5/7--7-----4-----4--------------2--
------------------------------------2--------------------------
repeat that twice of course, but...
before you come into the verse, DON'T play this:
---------- ---------
---------- ---------
---------- --3------
-4-2-0---- play this ----4----
-------2-- ------4--
---------- ---------
verse part #1:
-----------------4--5-----------------5--
--9--7-------9---4--5------9--7--9----5--
--9--8-------9---4--6------9--8--9----6--
--9--9--9h11-----6--7------9--9--11---7--
--7--9--9h11-----6--7------7--9--11---7--
-----------------------------------------
------------4--5-----------------5----7--
--9--7--9---4--5------9--7--9----5----9--
--9--8--9---4--6------9--8--9----6----8--
--9--9--11--6--7------9--9--11---7----9--
--7--9--11--6--7------7--9--11---7----7--
-----------------------------------------
verse part #2:
*
------------------------------4--5-5h7p5----
--9--9--7-7---------------9---4--5-------5--
--9--9--8---8h9p8---------9---4--6----------
--9--9--9---------9--9h11-----6--7----------
--7-----9------------9h11-----6--7----------
--------------------------------------------
*
---------------------------5--5---
--9--9--7-7----------9-----5----5-
--9--9--8---8h9p8----9-----6------
--9--9--9---------9--11----7------
--7-----9------------11----7------
----------------------------------
*
------------------------------4--5-5h7p5----
--9--9--7-7---------------9---4--5-------5--
--9--9--8---8h9p8---------9---4--6----------
--9--9--9---------9--9h11-----6--7----------
--7-----9------------9h11-----6--7----------
--------------------------------------------
* *
-------------------5-5----7--
--9--9--7--7--/9---5---5--9--
--9--9--8--8--/9---6------8--
--9--9--9--9--/11--7------9--
--7-----9-----/11--7------7--
-----------------------------
chorus:
-9-----------7--9---x-x--
-10-0-0--0---7--10--x-x--
-11-9-9--9---8--11--x-x--
-11-9-9--9---9--11--x-x--
-9--7-7--7----------x-x--
-------------------------
then back into the verse progression
one variation John plays in this part is:
---------- ---------------
-------9-- -------9----9--
-------9-- -------9----9--
instead of this --9h11---- play this --9h11---11----
--9h11---- --9h11---11----
---------- ---------------
then into the verse again.
then chorus
then the bridge:
--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--0----
--5--5--5--5--3--3--1--1----
--6--6--5--5--4--4--2--2----
--7--7--5--5--5--5--3--3----
----------------------------
----------------------------
play that a few times then:
-----------------------
-----------------------
-2-2-2-2--1-1--4-4-----
-3-3-3-3--2-2--5-5-----
-3-3-3-3--2-2--5-5-----
-1-1-1-1--0-0--3-3-----
although, when playing live, John plays this
and it sounds alot better:
------------------
------------------
-2-2-2-2--9-9-12--
-3-3-3-3--9-9-12--
-3-3-3-3--7-7-10--
-1-1-1-1--0-0-----
then back to the bridge but with some variations towards
the end
--0--0--0--0----3p0----0--0--0--0-------------
--5--5--5--5-5------5--3--3--1--1--1---3p1----
--6--6--5--5--5-----5--4--4--2--2----------2--
--7--7--5--5-----------5--5--3--3----3--------
----------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------
repeat, as you do, slow down then end on
--0--
--2--
--2--
--2--
--0--
-----
done!!!
if i haven't screwed up, thats the way i play it and it sounds good.
thats a basic go of it for one guitar at standard tuning.
email me with your praise!! pete_mack_75@hotmail.com
take no notice of the "just a basic tab of it" part
good stuff
this isn't about the tab, but the nick "Peter the Great"...
I'm sorry to say this, but when I look at it it seems to be "Peter the Goat"... Just had to comment it....
Please dont hate me
