"Catch And Release" - Silversun Pickups
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: CatNamedEaster (Isaac H.)
Email: fear_and_loathing56@yahoo.com

Tuning: (Standard) E A D G B E

Most of the other tabs I've seen for this song are pretty close to
accurate I think, except for perhaps the intro/verse riff. This is the
way I like to play it. I figured it out on my acoustic and I think
it's pretty dead on, but hey, this is my first tab so...yeah...
Cut me a break if I'm wrong. Please rate. :)

Intro/Verse

e|---------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------|
D|---2----4/5-5/7-7-9----9\--------------------------|
A|---2----2/3-3/5-5/7----7\--------------------------|
e|---0----2/3-3/5-5/7----7\--------------------------| (12x)

Chorus

(Note: I'm not going to tab the all the strumming, but it's only
three chords. Just listen to the song...)
     C G D
e|---0-------3-------2------------|
B|---1-------3-------3------------|
G|---0-------0-------2------------|
D|---2-------0-------0------------|
A|---3-------2--------------------|
E|-----------3--------------------| (4x)

Brian also plays it like this live:

    C G D
e|-----------------------------|
B|--8-------3------10----------|
G|--0-------0-------0----------|
D|--x-------x-------x----------|
A|--7-------2-------9----------|
E|--8-------3------10----------|

Repeat the intro/verse riff twice. On the second time play this:

e|-----------------------------------|
B|---------------------------8-------|
G|-------------------------9-9-------|
D|---2----4/5-5/7-7-9----9-----------|
A|---2----2/3-3/5-5/7--7-------------|
e|---0----2/3-3/5-5/7----------------|

Repeat verse (12x)

Repeat chorus chords (3x)
Repeat verse riff (1x)
Repeat chorus chords (3x)
Repeat verse riff (2x)

Bridge

(Note: Again, figure out the strumming yourself; here's the chords...)

"And whoooo knows..."

     Em C G Bm D
e|---0-----0-----3-----2-----2--------|
B|---0-----1-----3-----3-----3--------|
G|---0-----0-----0-----4-----2--------|
D|---2-----2-----0-----4-----0--------|
A|---2-----3-----2-----2--------------|
E|---0-----------3--------------------| (1x)

Then...

     C Em Am Bm D
e|---0-----0-----0-----2-----2--------|
B|---1-----0-----1-----3-----3--------|
G|---0-----0-----2-----4-----2--------|
D|---2-----2-----2-----4-----0--------|
A|---3-----2-----0-----2--------------|
E|---------0--------------------------| (3x)

Back to chorus chords (3x)
Verse riff (1x)
Chorus chords (3x)
Verse riff (4x)

Ending notes

e|------------------|
B|----------8~------|
G|----------9~------|
D|-----9------------|
A|-------7----------|
E|---0--------------|

I'm pretty sure this is the most accurate method of playing the song.
There are a few little details I didn't point out like Brian's abrupt
ending during the slide up to A5 at the end of the song, but if
you're looking at this you no doubt know how the song sounds and so you
can figure those small details out yourself. Lemme know what'cha think!
:)

By the way, here's the lyrics...

pardon me
wanna live in a fantasy
quietly
show you everything you'll ever need
i hope you'll take it
i know you're faking just a little bit
c'mon and taste it
just get excited cause you're giving in
come and see
how the wind in your hair will feel differently
catch and release
the lure above
here we are
in the bathwater overflow
later on
don't say i didn't tell you so
maybe i didn't but you've taken it
knew you were faking just a little bit
now that you've tasted
no need to fight it cuz you've given in
follow me
down the streams of sweat on your body
can't believe the lure was enough
do you see
how the wind in your hair now feels differently
catch and release
the lure above
who knows how this feeling grows
was it truly worth
truly worth the starting
who knows why the engine's blown
hope it's truly worth
truly worth the parting
follow me
down the streams of sweat on your body
can't believe
the lure was enough
do you see
how the wind in your hair now feels differently
catch and release
the lure above
guess the lure was enough
guess the lure was enough
yes the lure was enough
