...TAINTED LOVE... by Soft Cell
------------------.............

*from 'Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret' (1981)*

*CAPO 3rd FRET*

(Original Key: Gm)

Intro:

Em G C G (x2)

Verse 1:

     Em G C G
Some-times, I feel, I've got to;
Em G C G
   Run a-way, I've got to;
Em G C
   Get A-way,
         G Em G C G
From the pain you drive in-to the heart of me.

    Em G C G
The love we share, seems to,
Em G C
    Go no-where.
G Em G C G
 And I've lost my light,
      Em G
For I toss and turn; I can't sleep at night.

Chorus 1:

E G
Once I ran to you, now I run from you,
C
 This tainted love you've given,
  Am
I give you all a boy could give you.
A
Take my tears and that's not nearly...
Em G C G
All, Tainted love, oh, oh, oh,
Em G C G
    Tainted love.

Verse 2:

Em G C G
 Now I know, I've got to;
Em G C G
   Run a-way, I've got to;
Em G C
   Get A-way.
    G Em G
You don't really want any more from me.

   Em G C
To make things right,
    G Em G C
You need some-one to hold you tight.
G Em G C
And you think love is to pray,
G Em G
But I'm sorry, I don't pray that way.

Chorus 2:

E G
Once I ran to you, now I run from you,
C
 This tainted love you've given,
  Am
I give you all a boy could give you.
A
Take my tears and that's not nearly...
Em G C G
All, Tainted love, oh, oh, oh,
Em G C G
    Tainted love.

Verse 3:

      Em G C
Don't touch me, please,
  G Em G C
I can not stand the way you tease.
  Em G C
I love you, though you hurt me so,
G Em G
Now I'm going to pack my things and go.

Coda:

Em G C G
     Tainted love, oh, oh, oh,
Em G C G
     Tainted love, oh, oh, oh.
Em G C G
     Tainted love, oh, oh, oh,
Em G C G
     Tainted love, oh, oh, oh.

Em G C G
    Touch me, baby, tainted love,
Em G C G
    Touch me, baby, tainted love.

Em G C G
     Tainted love, oh, oh, oh,
Em G C G
     Tainted love, oh, oh, oh.

(Repeat to Fade)

I am not sure if its correct, but the second time the G comes around in the main riff I like to jump quickly to Am

Em..G..C..G.Am

Thaats because the bass moves from a
Bflat to a C

(or... on a guitar with capo on the third fret...from a "G" chord shape to an "A" ..."A minor" in this case)

"Bflat" to "C" = "G" to "A" with a capo on third.
Same notes
So it sounds natural to go to an a minor i think

THis is a great tab anyway. 5 stars

The last chord is a hammer on from G (with the open g on top hammering to an 'a' for a G6 chord.
