BORN TO BE WILD - Steppenwolf

Tuning: Standard EADGBe

Awsome song, easy and fun to play. Its hard to match the original sound though
its kind of gritty plus Steppenwolf used this funky, wicked, organ synthisizer
thing throughout the song wich helped define Steppenwolf's unique sound.
I know this isn't 100% correct, but its way more correct than the other tabs.

Timing and rythem is everything on this one. And since I don't know anything
about timing, you just have to listen to the song to get it.

Anyway, here are the guitar parts as interpreted by me.

Intro
e|--------------------|
B|--------------------|
G|-9--9-9-------------|

A|-7--7-7--7-7-0-5/7--|
E|--------------------|

You can play this the fouth time to add in that
funky little bass intro.

Lookin for adv... And whatever...

This next part is played with two guitars, but when I play it by myself I just
play the bass part from GTR II with the lick from GTR I. I tabbed the lick
basicly how it sounds but in the original version there are slight variations
each time its played, so improvise with some hammer ons and pull offs and stuff.
Again, listen to the song for timing. Also note that most GTR II parts could
be played by bass or organ.

The second verse is played here, same as the first. See lyrics below.

This next bit is over the organ solo. GTR I just bangs on the E5 chord in a
series of rythmical patterns. Something like this.

GTR I
e|------------------| e|-----------------| e|----------------------|
B|------------------| B|-----------------| B|----------------------|
G|------------------| G|-----------------| G|----------------------|
D|-9--99--9-9-99-9--| x 4 D|-9-9-xxx-9-9-xxx-| x 4 D|-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9--|
A|-7--77--7-7-77-7--| A|-7-7-xxx-7-7-xxx-| A|-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7--|
E|------------------| E|-----------------| E|----------------------|

GTR II comes in with this over the last pattern from GTR I
e|---------------------------|
B|---------------------------|
G|-9-(9)-----7\6-6/7---------|
D|---------------------------| x 4
A|---------------------------|
E|---------------------------|

And then the drum solo, Doon-ta-da-Doon-ta-da-Doon-ta-da Doon Doon, classic!

Then repeat the first verse and chorus, and then there is a little outro pretty
much the same as the solo.

Lyrics

Get your moter runnin
Head out on the highway
Lookin for adventure
And whatever comes our way

Yeah, darling gonna make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space

I like smokin lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racing with wind
And the feeling that I'm under

Yeah, darling gonna make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space

Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
Gonna climb so high
I never wanna die

Born to be wild
Born to be wild
Born to be wild
Born to be wild

Get your moter runnin
Head out on the highway
Lookin for adventure
And whatever comes our way

Yeah, darling gonna make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space

Born to be wild
Born to be wild
Born to be wild
Born to be wild

| / slide up
