Lyrics:
E
Woke up this mornin', I was all alone
E
Saw your picture by the telephone
E B
I was missin' you oh so bad
E
Wish I had you here to hold
A
All I got is this touch-tone phone
F#m B E
So I guess I'll give you a call

E
Operator, help me please
E
Get through to my baby way overseas
E B
Time's a-wastin' oh so fast
E
Hello, baby, tell me, is that you?
A
I don't know what we're gonna do
F#m B E
But for now I'm glad I've got you on the line

(Bridge)
        A
Well, it feels so fine
        E
Knowin' you're all right
         F#m B Bm7
But we're miles away - Lord, it's not the same

(solo in Em pentatonic with wah over instrumental verse)

E
Woke up this mornin', I was all alone
E
Saw your picture by the telephone
E B
I been missin' you, baby, oh so bad
E
I love you, baby, with all my might
A
Come on home and squeeze me tight
F#m B E
Long distance love is gonna drive me out of my mind

Spoken, with intro riff playing in background:
(You better come on home, baby! I'm 'bout to go crazy! I'm tired of huggin'
my pillow at night! It sure don't kiss as good as you do! And all them
pictures you gave me? Their lips don't move at all! And the clothes in the
closet? They look a lot better on you than they do on that hanger! Besides,
I just want to get my arms around you...)(fades out)

This song is one of my all-time favorites! It's really funky and has a very
unusual blues-based chord progression. Also, as with all my other tabs, I
decided to make this one because there isn't an accurate ear-transcribed tab
anywhere (well, anywhere I've looked, anyway). Once you get the hang of it,
this is actually a pretty easy song, though it's almost impossible to play the
background guitar and sing at the same time. Questions, comments, and
constructive feedback are all welcome. Enjoy! ~ Jaquito
