THE following TAB is NOT by me, it's by Rob Cabacungan
                                       robertc@phoenix.princeton.edu

"Here's Where the Story Ends" (D. Gauverin, H. Wheeler)
by the Sundays from "Reading writing & Arithmetic"

Verse chords: Chorus chords:
Gmaj7 320032 G 320003
Cmaj11 032032 C 032010

Gmaj7 Cmaj11
people I know, places I go
Gmaj7 Cmaj11
make me feel tongue-tied
Gmaj7 Cmaj11
I can see how people look down
Gmaj7 Cmaj11
I'm on the outside
Gmaj7 Cmaj11 Gmaj7 Cmaj11
here's where the story ends
Gmaj7 Cmaj11 Gmaj7 Cmaj11
here's where the story ends

*Chorus* [ See Tablature Above ]
          C
it's that little souveneir of a terrible year
      G
which makes my eyes go sore
       C
and whoever would have thought the books that you brought
     G
were all I loved you for
     G

Gmaj7 Cmaj11

places I know, places I go
make me feel so tired
and I can see how people look down
they're on the inside

oh here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes my eyes feel sore
and who ever would've thought the books that you brought
were all I loved you for

oh the devil in me said, go down to the shed
I know where I belong
but the only thing I ever really wanted to say
was wrong, was wrong, was wrong

it's that little souvenir of a colorful year
which makes me smile inside
so I cynically, cynically say, well is that why
surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise

here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

End on Gmaj7..

Subject: CRD: 'Here's Where the Story Ends' by the Sundays

I got the chords from two separate posts last year, and added the picking
pattern I use at the end. Corrections and additions are welcome to both
the chords and lyrics. I'll post 'You're not the only one that I know' in
a couple days.

Here?s Where the Story Ends by the SUNDAYS

Gmaj7 Cadd9
People I know, places I go
Gmaj7 Cadd9
Make me feel tongue-tied
Gmaj7 Cadd9
Like you see how, people are down
Gmaj7 Cadd9
There on the inside
Gmaj7 Cadd9 Gmaj7 Cadd9
Here?s where the story ends

People I see, weary of me
Showing my good side
Like you see how, people are down
I?m on the outside
Here?s where the story ends
Oh, here?s where the story ends

B*
Oh, it?s that little souvenir of a terrible year
      Gmaj7 Cadd9
Which makes my eyes go so
B*
Oh I never should have said, the books you read
     Gmaj7 Cadd9
Were all I loved you for

Oh, it?s that little souvenir of a terrible year
That makes me wonder why
It?s the memories of the shed, that make me turn red
Surprise, surprise, surprise

Places I know, places I go
Make me feel so tired
Like you see how, people are down
I?m on the outside
Here?s where the story ends
Oh, here?s where the story ends

Oh, it?s that little souvenir of a terrible year
Which makes my eyes go so
And whoever would have thought, the books you brought
Were all I loved you for
Oh, the devil in me said
Go down to the shed, I know where I belong
But, the anything-I-ever-really-wanted-to-say
Was wrong, was wrong, was wrong

Oh, it?s that little souvenir of a colorful year
Which makes me smile inside
So I cynically, cynically say, the world is that way
Surprise, surprise, suprise, suprise, surprise

Here?s where the story ends
Oh, here?s where the story ends

I use this picking pattern near the end of the song:

------2------2------------------0------|
---------------0---------3---------3---|
----0------0----0--------------------0-|
-----------------------2------2--------|
---------------------3------3----------|
--3------3-----------------------------|

Chord Shapes:
Gmaj7 Cadd9 B*
--2-- --0-- --7--|
--0-- --3-- --0--|
--0-- --0-- --0--|
--0-- --2-- --0--|

Thanks for posting this. I love this song. But chords aren't exactly right. After watching a few online lessons, listening to the song and playing with it, I came up with the following.

The chord I call "Cmaj7(+F#)" is a Cmaj7 with your index finger on the second fret of the high E string (F#) - basically a Gmaj7 moved to the C position. I just couldn't find a name for it.

HERE’S WHERE THE STORY ENDS
(The Sundays)

Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#) x2

Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#) Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#)
People I know, places I go, make me feel tongue-tied
Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#) Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#)
I can see how people look down, they're on the inside
Gmaj7 D11(no5th) Gmaj7 D11(no5th)
Here's where the story ends

Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#) Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#)
People I see, weary of me showing my good side
Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#) Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#)
I can see how people look down, I'm on the outside
Gmaj7 D11(no5th) Gmaj7 D11(no5th)
Here's where the story ends
Gmaj7 D11(no5th) Gmaj7 D11(no5th)
Ooh, here's where the story ends

Cadd9
It's that little souvenir of a terrible year
Gmaj7
Which makes my eyes feel sore
Cadd9
Oh I never should have said, the books that you read
Gmaj7
Were all I loved you for
Cadd9
It's that little souvenir of a terrible year
Gmaj7
Which makes me wonder why
Cadd9
And it's the memories of your shed that make me turn red
Gmaj7
Surprise, surprise, surprise

Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#) Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#)
Crazy I know, places I go, ,ake me feel so tired
Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#) Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#)
I can see how people look down, I'm on the outside

Gmaj7 D11(no5th) Gmaj7 D11(no5th)
Here's where the story ends
Gmaj7 D11(no5th) Gmaj7 D11(no5th)
Ooh, here's where the story ends

Cadd9
It's that little souvenir of a terrible year
Gmaj7
Which makes my eyes feel sore
Cadd9
And who ever would've thought the books that you brought
Gmaj7
Were all I loved you for
Cadd9
Oh the devil in me said, go down to the shed
Gmaj7
I know where I belong
Cadd9
But the only thing I ever really wanted to say
Gmaj7
Was wrong, was wrong, was wrong
Cadd9
It's that little souvenir of a colourful year
Gmaj7
Which makes me smile inside
Cadd9
So I cynically, cynically say, the world is that way
Gmaj7
Surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise

Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#) Gmaj7 Cmaj7(+F#)

Gmaj7 D11(no5th) Gmaj7 D11(no5th)
Here's where the story ends
Gmaj7 D11(no5th) Gmaj7 D11(no5th) Gmaj7
Ooh, here's where the story ends
