The Civil Wars
Barton Hollow

Tuning DADGAD not 100% but it's the first one I tried sounds close.
I'll put down the chords in standard as well. I also added standard chords.

dn=downsroke up=upstroke pm=palm mute b=bend

Song and chorus starts with something like this:

g--2- This is D of some kind.

Main Riff 1 2
dn up dnpm dn up dn up

Both the same riff. The first shows what my fingers are doing. I like to keep my index
on the 2nd fret G, and move my middle and ring together bending the same direction, which
is down towards your feet. It's easier for me, though I doubt this is what he does.
The second is what I hear as far as the strings being hit. It sounds pretty close to me.

The main riff is just D and F in standard tuning. Chorus is just D.

D D F D D F D D F D D F
I'm a dead man walking here, that's the least of all my fears.
Ooooh underneath the water.
It's not Alabama clay, gives my tremblin' hands away.
Ooooh please forgive me father.

Aint goin' back to Barton Hollow, Devil gonna' find me ever I go.
Wont do me no good washin' in the river, can't no preacher man save my soul.

Did that full moon force my hand, or that unmarked hundred grand?
Ooooh underneath the water.
Ooooh please forgive me father.

(Here it changes up, to something like. . .)

d-----------] d-----------] d-----------]
a---------0-] a-----------] a-----------]
g--777-77s2-] 2x then g--777-77-7-] 1x then g--7---7----]
d--000-00-0-] d--000-00-7-] d--7---7----]
a--000-00-0-] a--000-00-5-] a--5---5----]
d--888-88-0-] d--888-88-0-] d-----------]
   D? - D?

Not sure about this, but it sounds close.

Miles and miles in my barefeet, still can't lay me down to sleep.
If I die before I wake, I know the Lord my soul oh.

(Back to main riff)

I'm a dead man walking here.
I'm a dead man walking here.

(Another change)

d----------------------------] d----
a----------------------------] a----
g--7-7---5-5---4-4---3-3-----] Then g--2-
d--0-0---3-3---4-4---3-3-----] d--2-
a--0-0---3-3---2-2---1-1-----] a--0-
d--8-8---0-0---0-0---1-1-----] d--0-
   D C B Bb A

D C B Bb
Keep walkin' and runnin', runnin' for miles.
Keep walkin' and runnin', runnin' for miles.
Keep walkin' and runnin', runnin' for miles.

Aint goin' back to Barton Hollow, Devil gonna' find me ever I go.
Wont do me no good washing in the river, can't no preacher man save my soul.

That's it so far. I know it's not 100% but it'll get ya' started. Corrections welcome and please.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the tuning is dadf#ad. you finger the C-D base notes on the 3rd and 5th fret of the A string playing everything else open, then finger the f on the third fret of the D sting and bar the the other top three strings on the third fret for the f chord. sorry for not speaking tab language well - see what you think..
