Verse 1: [Rhythm Figure 1]
F Am Dm G
A mother went up to the mountain, she said it was for gold

     Bb Dm G
but all these drums and Indians, oh no

F Am Dm G
said buddy was a good boy, but just not for me

Bb Dm G
come on now, pack your bags, time to leave

Verse 2: [Rhythm Figure 2]
     Bb C/E
but Mom, are you dead?

         F
are you free from this life you’ve

C/E Dm C Bb
left for such red faced man, oh ma

    C/E F
oh please don’t leave

Verse 3: [Rhythm Figure 1]
back to the city in high heels, gold rings upon her hands
get up son, it's time to run, jump and land
in a wagon with no wheels and no place to go
she just smiles and nods her head, ‘oh welcome home’

Verse 4: [Rhythm Figure 2]
but oh those mines, can’t you see,
were just much too deep for your
sins, though you buried them beneath the
mountaintops

Bridge: [Rhythm Figure 3]
Dm Am Bb
where you going with your coonskin boots?

     Bb C Dm G
well I just want to be with you

I know you never said that you would stay
forever and it's getting late
well I don’t want to be a broken boy
so sad, alone, and oh so coy
why’d you got to be so god damn cruel?
well I just want to be with you
but do you...?

[Outro]
A mother went back to the mountain
she said it was for love
but all those mountain men are buried
with their lust and her gold rings

Pretty solid tab. I do think the bridge is Dm to F then to Bb. I don't really like the G anywhere but I can't find anything better.

Good work

Listening to it again, I think you're right about the F in the bridge. The G still sounds right to me, but I see that what I called G should be G5. If I play a full G, like 5x043x rather than 5x003x, it does sound wrong to me. If G5 is right though, it could also be 5x503x, 555xxx, or some other variant, but the difference seems pretty subtle.
