Song: A Song for While I'm away
Artist: Thin Lizzy
Album: Vagabonds of the Western World (released: 9/1973)
Lyrics: Provided by www.sing365.com

Tuning: EADGBe (standard)

Hello all Thin Lizzy fans!

The song itself is quite easy. The guitarist plays this fingerpicking pattern, but I
bothered to tab it,
because it sounds better if you play the chords (if you only got one guitar). Thin Lizzy
the whole thing
with a big orchestra (or so it seems) so they have a full sound, and if you dont play
chords, the sound will be
uninteresting and flat. The 2 riffs I have set up is optional. It sounds just a bit cool
you do them. Riff1 is
really played with 1 guitar and 1 bass, and at one place it is played by some sort of
(or something like that).
Riff2 is a riff for the bass guitar, but I like it, so I put it in there.

Intro:

    E B D A Am E
e|-----7-----7-5---------5-----5-----4---------|
B|---9-----7-----7-----5-----5-----5---5---5-5-|
G|-9-----8---------7-6-----5-----4-------6-----|
D|---------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------|

Riff1: Riff2:

e|--------------------------|------------------|
B|--------------------------|------------------|
G|-1--2--2/4--2--1--2/4--1--|------------------|
D|-2--4--4/6--4--2--4/6--2--|--2---------------|
A|--------------------------|-----4--2---------|
E|--------------------------|-----------4--0---|

Intro x3

E** B
These words I wrote, play and sing to you
D A**
Do not convey the love I brought and bring to you
Am E*
For this is a song for while I'm away
   A* E (Riff1)
To say all the things I'd love to say

            A5 Ab5 F#5 E5 (Riff2)
You are my life, my everything, you're all I have

You're all I have
               F#5 Ab5 (F#5) E5 (Riff2)
Please heed me now these words I have to say
