I play most 7-chord like they are diplayd below. Kind of blues-chords as I was taught some time ago.
You can get it groooving really good this way, as you are almost sliding down Hm7-A7-G7---F7.

{t:Fumblin' with the blues}
{st: Tom Waits}

Hm F#7 Hm F#7 Hm
Friday left me fumblin' with the blues
         Hm7 A7 G7 F#7*
And it's hard to win when you always lose
            Hm7 A7 G7
Because the nightspots spend your spirit
         Hm7* E7
beat your head against the wall
Hm F#7 Hm F#7 Hm
two dead-ends you still got to choose

             Hm F#7 Hm F#7 Hm
You know the bartenders they all know my name
         Hm7 A7 G7 F#7*
and they catch me when I'm pulling up lame
          Hm7 A7 G7 F#7* Hm7* E7
and I'm a pool-shooting-shimmy-shyester shaking my head
Hm F#7 Hm F#7 Hm
when I should be living clean in stead

             Hm F#7 Hm F#7 Hm
You know the ladies I've been seeing off and on
          Hm7 A7 G7 F#7*
well they spend your love then they're gone
    Hm7 A7 G7 F#7* Hm7* E7
you can't be loving someone who is savage and cruel
Hm F#7 Hm F#7 Hm
Take your love and then they leave on out of town... No they do...

Solo:
Hm---------F#7---------Hm---F#7---Hm
Hm7---A7---G7----------F#7*
Hm7---A7---G7---F#7*---Hm7*-------E7
Hm---------F#7---------Hm---F#7---Hm

....
When I'm falling in love, It's such a breeze
but it's standing up that's so hard for me
I wanna sqeeze you but I'm scared to death I'll break your back instead
You know your perfume, well it won't let me be

You know the bartenders they all know my name
and they'll catch me when I'm pulling up lame
and I'm a pool-shooting-shimmy-shyster shaking my head
when I should be living clean in stead

so come on baby, let your love light shine
gotta bury me inside of your fire
cause your eyes are enough to blind me
you're like a-looking at the sun
you gotta whisper tell me I'm the one
come on and whisper tell me I'm the one
gotta whisper tell me I'm the one
come on and whisper tell me I'm the one

not bad, except its confusing since there is no such thing as an H chord.

Thank you for the tab! This is great. I think Waits' version is in C though, so if you want the same sound, you should transpose the song half a step up. Thanks again!

PS: H is B in German...

I meant Waits' version is in Cm (instead of Bm), sorry for the possible confusion, so no change in the chords pattern, just transpose everything half a step up!
