Song: Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24
Artist: Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Album: Christmas Eve and Other Stories
Tabbed by J. Campbell
Standard tuning
A couple of friends and I were learning this song together last Christmas
(they both play guitar and I play bass). In short order, I found that
there's not a whole lot of actual bass in this song. So I also tabbed out
some other parts where a bass could fill in, you know, if you don't have an
orchestra at your disposal. Anyway.
Intro
This part is played by a cello on the album.
G -----4-4-------------------4-|
D ---------7-5-4-------4-5-7---|
A -5-7-----------7-5-7---------|
E -----------------------------|
(0:17)
This part is a round, played by a flute and a cello, a total of four times.
G -----4-4-------------|
D ---------7-5-4-------|
A -5-7-----------7-5-7-|
E ---------------------|
(0:33)
Through the crescendo, just keep hitting an E - the one on the A string
(fret 7) sounds best. On the album version it's just one time per measure,
but I found that a "1, 1 2 3 4" pattern sounds cool too.
(1:04)
This is the only real bass in the song.
G --------------------------------------9-9-9-9----|---|----------|-------|
D -----------------------10-10-10-12-10---------9~-|-9-|-9--9--9--|-9-9-9-|
A -7-7-7-9-9-10-10-12-10---------------------------|---|----------|-------|
E -------------------------------------------------|---|----------|-------|
(1:15)
A piano plays this part. Low notes though. Ripe for usurping.

After that, there's a piano interlude. In the background there's some
synth-sounding string thing going on, which sounds okay on bass. If you
need something to do.
G -9-7------|---4---4---4---4-|

Immediately following that, go back to the E.

Resume playing the trusty old E in the same pattern until about 3:04, where
you just play on the strike notes with the guitar.
