ahhh I get it... it's a guitar with an octave pedal... i think I'll blow a few hundred bucks on one when it sounds decent on a BASS GUITAR

Hey listen, listen. On the cd, Jack White plays the bass and the guitar but when they're playin it live, he either uses an octave pedal OR tunes the strings to BGDGBE (low to high). That way u can play the bass intro & verses like --5---5-8-5-3-1---0-- on the low B string and the chorus like:

E|-----------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------------|
G|--7---7-10-7-5-3-2-------7---7-10-7-5-3-5-3-2--| x 2
D|--7---7-10-7-5-3-2-------7---7-10-7-5-3-5-3-2--|
G|--7---7-10-7-5-3-2-------7---7-10-7-5-3-5-3-2--|
B|-----------------------------------------------|

E|-----------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------|
G|--0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--|
D|--0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--|
G|--0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--|
B|-----------------------------------|
