Intro:
D G D D A/D D

Verse:
D G D
I ride east every other Friday but if i had it my way
D A/D D
The day would not be wasted on this drive
D G
And i want so bad to hold you
D A/D
But son theres things I haven't told you
D A/D
Your mom and me couldn't get along

Chorus:
        D
So i'll drive
      G A/D
And I think about my life
        D G A/D
And wonder why, That I slowly die inside
     Bm A G A
Everytime I turn that truck around, right at the Georgia line
                D A/D G
And I count the days, and the miles back home to you
            A/D D
on that Highway 20 ride

Verse 2:
D G D
A day might come and you'll realize that if you could see through my eyes
     D A/D D
There was no other way to work it out
      D
And a part of you might hate me
    G D D A/D
But son please don't mistake me For a man that didnt care at all

Chorus

Bridge:
D
So when you drive
        G A/D
And the years go flying by
           D
I hope you smile
     G A/D
If i ever cross your mind
         Bm A
It was a pleasure of my life
      G A
And i cherished every time
             D
And my whole world
     A/D G
It begins and ends with you
           A/D D
On that Highway 20 ride....

This version sounds good, but after viewing several YouTubes of this song you can clearly see that he plays with a Capo on 4. I'd suppose this version would also sound good with it transposed up 4 half steps.

Does anyone else think that an A minor sounds better than the A/D in this version? I'm also struggling with the Bm. It sounds too dark and complex.
