------------------------------------------------------------
VERSE 1
********
Gm Eb Gm Eb
It seems to me as though I've been upon this stage before
    Bb F Cm Gm Eb
And juggled away the night for the same old crowd
Gm Eb Gm Eb
These harlequins you see with me, they too have held the floor
   Bb F Cm Gm Eb
As here once again they strut and they fret their hour

------------------------------------------------------------
BRIDGE
*******
Bb F Eb Gm Cm
I see those half-familiar faces in the second row
F Cm Dm
Ghost-like with the footlights in their eyes
Eb Bb Cm Bb F Gm
But where or when we met like this last time, I just don't know
Cm F Dm (Gm Eb X4)
It's like a chord that rings and never dies for infinity

------------------------------------------------------------
VERSE 2
*********
Gm Eb Gm Eb
And now these figures in the wings with all their restless tunes
    Bb F Cm Gm Eb
Are waiting around for someone to call their names
Gm Eb Gm Eb
They walk the backstage corridors and prowl the dressing rooms
    Bb F Cm Gm Eb
And vanish to specks of light in the picture-frames

------------------------------------------------------------
BRIDGE
*******
Bb F Eb Gm Cm
But did they move upon the stage a thousand years ago
F Cm Dm
In some play in Paris or Madrid
Eb Bb Cm Bb F Gm
And was I there among them then, in some travelling show
Cm F Dm (Gm Eb X4)
And is it all still locked inside my head for infinity

------------------------------------------------------------
VERSE 3
********
Gm Eb Gm Eb
And some of you are harmonies to all the notes I play
    Bb F Cm Gm Eb
Although we may not meet still you know me well
Gm Eb Gm Eb
While others talk in secret keys and transpose what I say
    Bb F Cm Gm Eb
And nothing I do or try can get me through the spell

------------------------------------------------------------
BRIDGE
*******
Bb F Eb Gm Cm
So one more time we'll dim the lights and ring the curtain up
F Cm Dm
And play again like all the times before
Eb Bb Cm Bb F Gm
But far behind the music you can almost hear the sounds
Cm F Dm (Gm Eb X4)
Of laughter like the waves upon the shores of infinity

A nice Al stewart track. Great solo to play along to, tricky bit is hard but gets easier
the more you play it. Enjoy..............

He plays live with a capo on the third fret, so that, with respect to the capo, Gm is Em, Eb is C, Bb is G, F is D, Cm is Am and Dm is Bm. Quite easier to play and more similar to the original sound! Cheers!
