[Chorus]
(Each chorus is very similar to the intro. He plays the lick with the hammers and pull-offs,
and then finger-style picks the Cmaj7 and G6 chords differently each time. This is the intro,
but definitely play with freedom on the chord shapes shown above.)

   G6add9 Cmaj7 Cadd2

       E|-------|-------|---5---|-------|-------|--------|---8---|-------|---7---|

(Here he plays chords with a few hammers (in no particular pattern). The chords are punchy,
and I like to slap with my thumb in between chords along with the snare.)

[Verse 1]
           Em7 Dm7 Am7
Oh, cause time keeps moving forward
   C D Em7 G C(2)
as I keep fall-ing back
Em7 Dm7 Am7
Both my feet are planted
    C D Em7 G C/F C(2)
but my foun -da- tion's cra - cked
        Am7 Bm7 Am7
But in my de - fense

[Verse 2]
         Em7 Dm7 Am7
Oh, the worst thing I can think of,
C D Em7 G C(2)
of all there is
     Em7 Dm7 Am7
Is losing your a- ffection
C D Em7 G C/F C(2)
cause of my stubbor-nness
       Am7 Bm7 Am7
But in my de - fense

[Verse 3]
          Em7 Dm7 Am7
Oh, well, I get so frus-trated
      C D Em7 G C(2)
Cause I hate be - ing wrong
Em7 Dm7 Am7
Ener - gy gets wasted
C D Em7 G C/F C(2) (This line he plays A string first then the rest of the chord)
Cause my head's far too strong
       Am7 Bm7 Am7
But in my de - fense
