At the bottom of the page you'll find the intro riff.
I've tabbed it the simplest way for one guitarist,
without the harmony.

[Verse 1]
G6 Dmaj7
Chewing on a piece of grass, walking down the----- road,
G6 Dmaj7
'Tell me, how long you gonna----- stay here, Joe?
G6 Dmaj7
Some people say, this town don't look---- good in snow,
G6 Dmaj7
   You don't care, ...I know!'

[Chorus]
G6 Dmaj7
    Ventura Highway, in the------ sunshine,
           G6
Where the days are longer,
                            Dmaj7
The nights are stronger than----- moonshine,
G6 Dmaj7
You're gonna go, I know, oo -woh, oo -woh,
                                  F#m11
...Oo -woh, oo -woh, oo -woh, oo -woh!

[Bridge]
           Em7 F#m11
'Cause the free wind is blowing through your hair,
        Em7 F#m11
And the days surround your daylight there,
Em7 F#m11
     Seasons crying, no despair,
       Em7 F#m11 G6
Alli - gator lizards in the air, ...in the air---------!

[Break]
Dmaj7
Doo, dit -doo, doo! Doo, dit -doo, doo!
G6
Doo, dit -doo, doo! Doo, dit -doo, doo!
Dmaj7
Doo, dit -doo, doo! Doo, dit -doo, doo!

[Verse 2]
G6 Dmaj7
Wishing on a falling star, waiting for the---- early train,
G6 Dmaj7
'Sorry, boy, but I've been hit by------ purple rain!'
G6 Dmaj7
'Aww, come on, Joe, you can always----- change your name!'
G6 Dmaj7
'Thanks a lot, son, ...just the same!'

[Chorus]
G6 Dmaj7
    Ventura Highway, in the------ sunshine,
           G6
Where the days are longer,
                            Dmaj7
The nights are stronger than----- moonshine,
G6 Dmaj7
You're gonna go, I know, oo -woh, oo -woh,
                                  F#m11
...Oo -woh, oo -woh, oo -woh, oo -woh!

[Bridge]
           Em7 F#m11
'Cause the free wind is blowing through your hair,
        Em7 F#m11
And the days surround your daylight there,
Em7 F#m11

Dewey Bunnell, the song's vocalist and writer, has said that the lyric 'alligator lizards in the air' is a reference to the shapes of clouds in the sky he saw in 1963 while his family was driving down the coast from Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc, California where they got a flat tyre. While his father changed the tyre, he and his brother stood by the side of the road and watched the clouds, and there was a road sign for Ventura.
There is no actual Ventura Highway itself, what he was trying to depict was the Pacific Coast Highway, Highway 1, which goes up to the town of Ventura.
