Hey man, thanks for that tab. That's a really cool song, I totally believe Stockdale 'knows' what is really going on in the world. When I first heard the line "if you wanna be free, you can leave your SELF behind" I nearly fell over. In the freedom community it's almost common knowledge today that we are two separate identities. The real identity is the 'man' (or woman) who sits next to God. The other identity that was issued to us by the state thru trickery and deceit, making us believe that we are the NAME on the BIRTH CERTIFICATE when in actuality we are not. I would bet my life that this is what he's saying. To 'leave yourSELF' behind means to unravel the contracts that we've been tricked into signing....it's a long story. Good job on the tab.

Hey Jason, yeah this is definitely an amazing song! You could be right with your interpretation about his song but i think it refers to something different. In my opinion it´s about being your own biggest enemy. That your "true" character is covered by norms, forced behaviour, shakiness ...
All these things caused by the state and the community. Maybe he is trying to say that a person gets way to much distorted and distracted from the things you really want. Like no tasks and no pressure, just trying to make the best of whats coming next. That you have to take one big look at yourself and get down on what you wanna focus. But that´s the nice thing about vocals and tracks. You don´t get an explanation delivered to a song. Everyone refers to a song in another way.
Thanks a lot for your contribution!
