About this tab version
Tabbed for one guitar rather than an acoustic rhythm and electric lead. Strum pattern that sounds "cleaner" than what's on the record IMO. Was this info helpful? Yes No

[Verse I]

Em B7
I don't wanna be there, sitting on my own,
Em B7
in defeat and despair, if it's not her, 'cause

Gmaj Dmaj
All along I was kept from better
Em Cmaj
days. (But I don't wanna be.)
Gmaj Dmaj
All along I was kept from better
Em Cmaj
days. (But I don't wanna be.)
Gmaj Dmaj

[Verse II]

Em B7
I'm walkin' away with one right turn.
Em B7
Took too many (k)nights for me to learn that

[Chorus]

Gmaj Dmaj
All along I was kept from better
Em Cmaj
days. (But I don't wanna be.)
Gmaj Dmaj
All along I was kept from better
Em Cmaj
days. (But I don't wanna be.)
Gmaj Dmaj
All along I was kept from better
Em Cmaj
days. (But I don't wanna be.)
Gmaj Dmaj
All along I was kept from better

[Post-Chorus]

Em Amaj
days (Aaah-aah) to be with
Em Amaj
you. (Aah-aah) To be with
Em Amaj
you. (Aah-aah) To be with
Cmaj*
you. End on Em

* There's a little "upwards" effect here that you can get by switching from one voicing of Cmaj to a "higher"
one. For example, from 332010 to x32010 or from x32010 to x32013 or from 332010 to x32013 (my personal fav).
Also, you may find it easier (I certainly do) to make it a E-based bar chord (8-10-10-9-8-8) on the first
time around, before the solo. That way you're right in position to play the solo.

As always, remember to mix it up, experiment, find what sounds good, write your own lyrics, make it your own
song.

Cheers!
