Stand By Me - words and music by Ben E. King, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller

Note: I have taken this from the original score and matched it to the 1961 recording
               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwZNL7QVJjE
This was originally written in C with the G7 as a lead-in chord.
           The singer is singing E G A
                                   "When the night"
which I think has confused some the people's different versions here.
This is a simple 4 chord song that is all about the singers timing so I included.

[Intro]

C Am F G7

[Verse 1]

G7 C Am
When the night has come and the land is da-rk
        F G7 C
And the mo-on is the on- ly light we'll see

     C C Am
No I wo-n't be af-raid, no I won't be af-raid
        F G7 C
Just as long as you st-and, stand by me. So darl-lin', darl-lin'

[Chorus 1]

C C Am
stand by me, oh--h sta- and by me,
     F G7 C
Ohh, stand Stand by me, stand by meee.

[Verse 2]

       C Am
If the sky that we look up-on should tumble and fall
       F G7 C
Or the mount-ain should crum-mble to the sea

        C Am
I won't cry, I won't cry, no--oo- I won't shed a tear
        F G7 C
Just as long as you st-and, stand by me. And darl-ling, darl-ling

[Chorus 2]

C C Am
stand by me, oh--h sta- and by me,
     F G7 C
Ohh, stand Stand by me, stand by meee.

                                                       Oh darl-ling darl-ling

[Chorus 3]

C C Am
stand by me, oh--h sta- and by me,
     F G7 C

      F G7 C
